I have recently been thinking of focusing some on computational mathimatics. I have been looking some at Stephen Wolfram's "A New Kind of Science". It just seemed an appropriate thing to put my efforts too. Wolfram is the originator of Mathematica which is one of the best mathimatical computational applications around (although a little expense to actually use).

This has lead me to many alternatives such as Maxima and Octave.

I also found a few good reviews to consider for these.

Move forward in time, I had been off of this for a bit, but then, while reading an article on API from Dr. Dobbs, I decided to look into it. I looked at the Wikipedia entry, which proved quite enlightening.
